True. Thank you Tim Ferris and his amazing book, "Tools of Titans", I hit the go button for my fast. I love food. I love eating. I think it is life, a big part of it. I do eat ridiculously clean, I'm very disciplined but to not eat, for a day, let alone 3, was a tough task for me. I did it. I loaded up on MCT oil throughout my day, incorporating it into my coffee. I used Bulletproof, (Thanks guys), without that I may have felt an energy downfall but I was totally fine. I functioned daily without any issues and I felt normal if not a bit more alert. There have been several studies on the benefits of fasting but plain and simple; fasting allows your body to burn fat, as long as you supply it with more fats. I lost no muscle, my stomach went down, and I felt totally fine. The harder part for me wasn't the no eating factor but the non working out factor. If you do a 3 day fast, you shouldn't be carrying on with your workouts as if you're eating. There is a different dimension presented and energy stores are totally altered. I did light cardio the second day and used the rest of the time for NO working out and maybe corrective work. I also tend to have a hard time resting from exercise so it was overdue.
Tuesday: I had my last high protein meal at 7pm
Wednesday: I woke up, had a cup of coffee with MCT oil, 1 tbsp and 1/2. Drank a gallon of water throughout the day loaded with 4G of BCAA's. Every time I felt hunger, I drank water and I was fine. I had another coffee around 4pm with MCT same amount.
Thursday: Same thing! This day was actually easier.
Friday: Same thing, and said If I can survive this, I'll be goooooood!
Friday night I got anxious to eat but I think more than anything it was emotional. I wanted to eat but I didn't have to. Saturday morning was pure protein pancake bliss!
What I learned:
Fasting is possible without feeling like you want to die.
I maintained energy throughout my day with loading up on high fats in the form of oils.
I was up from 5 am until midnight and functioned totally fine.
After, my first workout (post meal) was fine and fully energetic.
I felt so fine after that I decided to do it once a month or if I travel on the spur...
I can probably do a longer fast....but let me just enjoy leg day food first.
